We're not shaming anybody; these are predictable failure modes, but they’re also avoidable.
Mistake #1: Treating AI like a purchase instead of a capability
I'm willing to bet a cup of coffee that the most common sentence we hear in 2026 will be “We bought [tool], so why don’t we have results?”

- Name two owners:

- a Service/Ops Owner responsible for reliability and support.
- Make handover explicit: runbook, monitoring expectations, escalation path, and “who fixes what.”
Mistake #4: Confusing “having data” with “being able to use data”
A lot of organizations will say, “Our data is in the CRM and ERP,” and they’re not wrong.
But “data exists somewhere” is not the same as:
- the right people can access it,

- lots of demos,
- few production launches,
- unclear ownership,
- no baseline metrics,
- and endless “we’re still testing.”
